Chatly · Your information
Privacy policy
Effective date: October 18, 2026
Chatly provides messaging, media sharing, groups, communities, announcements and voice/video calling. This policy explains how Chatly handles information when you use our mobile apps, linked web app and public websites. Contact Chatly at suppport_chaly@outlook.com with privacy questions or requests.
Information we process
- Account and profile: your phone number, verification and authentication records, profile name, photo, optional profile/contact information, account preferences and privacy settings.
- Conversations: encrypted message and attachment data, sender and recipient identifiers, group/community membership, message timestamps, delivery/read information and related chat metadata. Profile details, service metadata and brand announcements are not the same as encrypted personal-message content.
- Devices and connections: device and linked-session identifiers, public encryption keys, notification tokens, network/IP and service logs needed for authentication, delivery, reliability and abuse prevention.
- Optional features: media, contact cards and location you choose to share; call participants, timing and connection information; and backups you choose to create. Using calls requires camera/microphone access as appropriate.
- Diagnostics and support: app usage events, crash reports and performance information through configured Firebase services in release builds, plus information you provide in support requests and abuse reports.
Contacts and device permissions
With your permission, Chatly reads phone contacts to help find people using Chatly. Contact discovery sends contact phone numbers to our service for matching; the discovery flow keeps address-book contact names on your device. Contacts you explicitly share in a message are sent to the selected conversation. You may save a Chatly contact to your phone when you choose that option.
Camera, microphone, photos/files, location, contacts and notification permissions support the features you select. You can change permissions in your device settings. Denying a permission may prevent that feature from working. Chat history and downloaded media are cached locally for offline access.
Why we use information
We use information to verify your number, maintain account and device sessions, route messages and calls, provide groups and announcements, match contacts, synchronize authorized linked devices, support backup/recovery, apply privacy choices, respond to reports, prevent misuse and diagnose service problems. Country segments for brand announcements may use your account phone-number country code.
Encryption, linked devices and backups
Personal-message text and attachments are encrypted on devices for authorized conversation participants. Our service stores and relays encrypted envelopes and processes the metadata needed to operate the service. Authorized linked devices can receive secure copies of your chat content. Encryption does not conceal all account, profile, membership or delivery information.
Optional password-free backup recovery uses a key managed by the Chatly backend for your authenticated account. This recovery mechanism does not provide a guarantee that Chatly cannot decrypt the recovery archive. Protect your phone number, devices and account access.
Recipients can save, export, forward or capture content they receive. Deleting a message or enabling disappearing messages cannot erase copies someone already saved elsewhere.
Service providers and disclosures
Chatly uses hosting/database infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure hosting; Firebase services and Apple/Google push notifications; configured SMS verification providers, including Twilio and BulkSMSCloud; maps services for location features; and Cloudflare TURN infrastructure when configured for call connectivity. Providers process the information needed for their functions. A TURN relay handles call connection traffic and network information; media is protected by WebRTC transport encryption.
We may disclose information to people you communicate with, service providers operating the service, or when necessary to address abuse, protect security, comply with applicable legal obligations or act on your instructions. Service providers may process information outside your country.
Storage and retention
Information may remain in account records, encrypted conversation storage, optional backups, operational logs and your device cache for different periods according to the purpose of each record. We retain information as needed to provide the service and address security, abuse and applicable legal obligations. There is no single automatic deletion period for all categories. Ask us about the information associated with your account and any retention that applies to your request.
Clearing a chat, removing the app and signing out do not by themselves delete your server-side account or optional backups. Other participants' copies and legally required or security-related records may remain after an account-deletion request. Where retention is necessary, we explain applicable exceptions when processing the request.
Your choices and requests
You can edit available profile details and privacy settings, restrict last-seen/read-receipt visibility, block/report contacts, manage linked devices and control device permissions. For access, correction, deletion, backup removal or other privacy requests, email suppport_chaly@outlook.com. Rights depend on applicable law. We may need to verify account ownership before disclosing or deleting information.
See account deletion for the request steps. Never send an OTP, password, private encryption key or identity document by email unless a secure and necessary verification process has been agreed.
Children and privacy concerns
If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can investigate and address the information. A parent or guardian can contact us about a child's privacy.
Public pages and policy changes
These static information pages do not set application cookies or load analytics scripts. Hosting infrastructure may still record ordinary request information such as IP address and time. The signed-in apps use authentication/session storage and the services described above.
We publish updates to this policy on this page and change the effective date. Contact suppport_chaly@outlook.com if you need clarification.
